Review on 🧰 Koch 7540040 4-Pack Roller Connector Kit by Trae Joubert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Simple, Effective, Reasonably Priced

These four sets were cheaper than a chain link from many other sources. I used this in conjunction with General #40 stainless steel roller chain for a driveway gate. The stainless steel roller chain was good too, but only came with one connecting link per 10ft chain pack. As you can easily see in a thought experiment or in practice, roller chains usually need to be attached to both ends of the gate to work properly. Otherwise, you will encounter the "chain pressure" problem. The link itself fits snugly and is easy to install once you remove a pin from the stainless steel roller chain. Note that the pins in a stainless steel chain are also made of stainless steel and are harder to pull out than regular steel. An effective way to do this in the field requires a hammer, punch and hex nut. 1. Install the nut on a solid object. 2. Place the chain over the nut so that the pin you want to remove is over the hole in the nut. 3. Position the stamp on the pin to be removed and hit the stamp with a hammer. For a quality chain don't expect it to come out very easy, more like 2 minutes if you are accurate enough. 5. You may have a pin that didn't come out all the way but can't reach with one hit. Then use pliers to pry out the other side.
