WORKED A YEAR TO THE DAY!

Out of service exactly one year after purchase! This is one of those self-destructing chip products that knows when it's out of warranty! ;-) I'm very frustrated as most reviews point to one or the other Netgear extension cord as the best buy right now. I don't usually return with loyal patronage to a manufacturer whose product lasts ONE year. I might as well rent it for $10 a month! It no longer works at all on the 5G channel and drops 2.4G every few minutes even after a firmware update and a…

Wireless and fast mode

I needed more Wi-Fi range for my house since I added ring cameras, there were connection problems. At first I thought of wiring my house with ethernet cables, but it seemed like too much work. I saw this product on YouTube, read the reviews on Amazon and bought this power strip. All I can say is that this thing with range is amazing. Easy to use. I set my extenders to full range and used fast band mode from 5G to 2.4G and wow the speeds are amazing as good as my verizon quantum cable modem and…

God help you if you ever need to change your Wi-Fi passwords

It worked great for a long time, that is until I had to change the Wi-Fi password on my router. The provided @mywifiext.net website is not available so you cannot change the password. When I finally found a troubleshooting tip online that allowed me to change the passwords on the extender to match the router, I did it and it still won't connect. When they called Netgear, they told me I needed to move the router and power strip to different parts of the house to troubleshoot. talk about painful…

Boosterlicious on repeaters

Synced with my Linksys E2500 router with no problems using the built in configuration utility. Syncs wirelessly with my router and I put it in the back bedroom closest to the backyard (where the RV is parked). Before I had this amp, my signal in the RV (connected to my router network in the living room) would drop to 42Mbps (at a distance of 50 - 60 feet) when I was in my RV on my LGG3 cell phone. When I synced with Netgear Booster, it more than doubled the Mbps (best report was 140 Mbps)…

Great wifi extender!

This extender worked even better than I expected. In fact, Best Buy's experts explained that what I wanted to do was not possible without using an Ethernet cable. I decided to try anyway. My predicament: I live far out of town and internet is only available via satellite and is quite expensive. I had to extend my wifi to the guest house about 50 meters away. After reading some of the reviews I thought this could only help. And, dude, did it ever do! I first tried running an extension cord in…

Unreliable, unreliable, nice POS.

Disappointing product experience is what comes to mind as I write this review. I really wanted to like this product as most users' reviews are excellent. But to me, this product was nothing more than an unreliable Wi-Fi connection. I have a 2 year old D-Link AC3200 and this router has performed extremely well. However, due to the location of my router, there are certain dead zones in my house. I bought this extender hoping to reduce WiFi dead zones. I randomly get a persistent "no internet…

Wow, how is Netgear staying in business?

I've seen a lot of comments about unsuccessful installations of this router extension, but I thought the positives outweighed the bad. Boy, was I wrong about that. Initially, the WPS method didn't get the extender to work, so I tried the manual approach, which was a complete fiasco. The first thing you will notice is that the website the guide directs you to does not match what is described in the printed guide. You end up in an infinite loop where the extender does nothing and the installation

Updated - And not good!

***UPDATE November 26, 2017*** My Nighthawk AC1900 Desktop WiFi Repeater has failed (second time). As I wrote in my last update, the bass band slowly lost power over time and then just stopped working. Changing settings and finally doing a factory reset does not improve the situation. It is clear that a device that works perfectly on my system one moment and fails without provocation the next moment is not user error. Tech support will (once again) call me to prove that the problem is in the…

UPDATE: My Netgear AC1900 model EX7000 actually died today. It is lit, except for the 2.4 and 5 GHz indicators, which means that no Wi-Fi frequency is working anymore. Cannot connect to WiFi. It's like this thing slowly degraded and then just died within 3 months of purchase and installation. I've tried rebooting and even the recessed reset button. Nothing helped to fix this piece of junk. The hardware should still be under warranty, but Netgear doesn't make claims on the warranty easy. I'm…
