Monument Personal Cloud Photos WiFi Review

Great concept, specs do not provide functionality as advertised. Doesn't solve duplicate photos. Photos are not automatically downloaded from the phone. Manually upload two photos and then freeze them. Not impressed at all. Many of the above requirements are not met.

The monument just doesn't work. After trying many times to connect to my Samsung S8, I updated Monument's firmware and then downloaded the beta version of the app. It finally found my bluetooth but couldn't connect to my 2.4hz wifi. I copied all my 24k photos to disk and attached them to the memorial. The monument processed all my photos and analyzed them. Another process in progress. Not sure what market they are targeting. At first I was excited to test this "Personal Cloud". Since I'm a software developer who also takes a lot of photos; I have a NAS at home that I use to back up all my computers and my photos. I thought a home system for automatically backing up my photos from our phones would be cool. I was able to set up and operate the device without any problems. The only catch is that the device needs an HDMI port to connect to a display during setup. The display doesn't do anything, there's no functional reason for the display, it's just necessary. I'm under the impression that the underlying OS needs a display to boot properly, but the device itself doesn't use the display except to show an ugly wallpaper.
