Review on πŸ’Ύ SAMSUNG 970 EVO SSD 1TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology, Black/Red by Adam uciuk ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A nice option for the money, one of the best deals.

replaced the stock Thermal Guard with a different heatsink. The controller reached its highest temperature of 50C, while the memory chips reached a maximum of 43C. However, two points should be made here: 2) The upper thermal pad that came with the heatsink is strange, divided into small squares, apparently so that it can be glued separately to each chip, but, of course, does not match the size of the chips on this drive (and I have no idea where this size is at all). In general, I had to create a complete game, cut it into smaller ones in order to cover the entire board. Therefore, I believe that a thermal pad must be purchased normally, cut off normally, and perhaps the temperature can still be lowered. And even though another radiator should theoretically cool even better, I'm still waiting for it.

Pros
  • corresponds to the qualities stated. For 2.5 weeks, there are no issues while it's working. What else could it possibly be?
Cons
  • Naturally, with the usual Thermal Guard radiator from the motherboard, the temperatures were pretty high (according to the sensors, the controller's peak is above 70C and the memory chips' peak is approximately +- up to 55C). But it's okay because that was to be expected. The drawback can be effectively avoided with a typical heatsink and a typical ventilated enclosure.
