So Far, A Good Standing Desk Accessory

A short while ago, I started using a DIY standing desk configuration at work to relieve lower back pain that was aggravated by all the time I spent sitting. The back pain cleared up right away. But my feet gradually grew unhappy, even in the most comfortable shoes I could find, and on a conventional anti-fatigue mat. I read a recommendation for using a balance pad, and spent a week or two mulling over the idea and the expense. I recognized that cushioning combined with small movements helped me feel more comfortable more of the time. The balance pad could be used for both, but I'd have to take my shoes off - a practical problem in an office environment. As the discomfort increased, my reservations diminished. So far, I enjoy both the cushion and the fidget factor the mat provides. I do small balances from time to time extending one leg forward and to the side. I am interested to see how it will wear over time.
