Review on πŸ“Ά Enhance Reception with Comet Original SMA-501 Dual-Band Miracle Baby Antenna - SMA Connector by Robert Farrar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Expensive but good.

I bought this to install on a Yaesu VX-3. Fits well and makes a very compact HT. The fit and finish is excellent, it looks like it's been lathed out of delrin so it's rigid and doesn't flex at all. Fits flush with Yaesu and looks great. I can easily hit a 70cm repeater at 24 miles on 1w. The repeater is at 5,000 feet, so it's in line of sight. Looks like a very good dead end. I was going to use the Retech RHA601 as I use it on my Baofeng but didn't because it was out of stock at the time. The Retech RHA601 is similar in size and performance and costs around $12 in my opinion, but is of lower quality. The Retech used to be hard rubber, but the newer models are plastic and feel a bit cheesy. You decide what matters, if repeated I would choose Retech as the more economical option. Short antennas aren't very powerful so know why you're buying them, they're good for downsizing your HT for short range simplex or to work with a line of sight repeater. 73
