I picked this up for my 10yo because she was excited to learn how to start sewing "like her mom". Plus she loves cats! I thought this would be a great way to learn how to handle and learn to manipulate a real needle for the first time and so far, she's doing great!This art kit has been a ton of fun for her so far. She is so unbelievably proud. But know I do have to help her knot the string the first couple of times and have to be available to help her undo mistakes (like when she gets the thread stuck). My extra tip would be to pick up a needle threader for a dollar at your local box store. this made a huge difference in letting her do most of this project on her own (i.e. separate to thread it herself, thread the needle, etc).The kit comes with plenty of extra thread, which was appreciated since we all make mistakes when we are learning a new skill. I also think it's a great value, especially seeing as how it is going to take her a ton of hours to finish. I'd highly recommend it!
