I had hoped this was similar to the last few like types of lights I've purchased. Those have a base just like this, but the bases had the wiring built in. You screw the base to the ceiling, attach the wires, and the light itself simply goes on and rotates and has the metal pickups where the metal parts of the base will be when it's fully turned.This is NOT like that, so it's not nearly as simple to install. It is a standard type install, put the base on, hook up the wires to the light itself, then mount the light.This is a big boy indeed though, so it's awkward to get the wires attached while holding it standing on a ladder. I got it though, and it wasn't nearly as difficult as another reviewer made it seem.Works well though, but I expected more brightness for this size.I also wish colors and the white LED could be mixed. One or the other. And the color LED's on the top out of direct line of sight mean colors are only indirect. I prever the ones I have where the normal light also turns colors.But this will do for what I wanted it for, in the spare bedroom.Pairing with Smart Life was easy, and Alexa was instantly able to run it.
