Review on Sonax 236941 Ceramic Coating CC36 by Jayt Shields

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This stage was very difficult to buff off and had a tendency to leave thin streaks that almost looked like scratches at first glance

I applied this to a brand new (2018 M4) vehicle with paint that had been clay barred and polished prior to application. Took me 8 hours including the initial wash, clay and polishing steps. The stage one sponge was very hard to keep hold of on vertical surfaces and has a tendency to drag even when using plenty of product. This stage was very difficult to buff off and had a tendency to leave thin streaks that almost looked like scratches at first glance. Stage two went on and buffed off much more easily. I am pleased with the way water runs off the paint. The car isn’t driven in the rain, but when drying after a wash it’s much quicker. The shine isn’t quite what you get with a high end wax, the paint doesn’t have that "wet” look. I applied a layer of collinite 845 over the coating and achieved the look I was after. All in all, I’m satisfied it was just more difficult to apply that I had anticipated. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of.

Pros
  • Applied to new headlights. Easy to do and looks great. Hope it helps keep them looking new.
Cons
  • For those who don't have experience with ceramic coatings, using Sonax 236941 Ceramic Coating CC36 can be challenging and time-consuming
