Review on KC HiLiTES 4206 Replacement Reflector by Michael Finnegan

good lights for reflectors

I edited this review on 11/27/2012 and hope it replaces my previous review as I was wrong about these lights. KC HiLite are good flashlights. In late 2010 I ordered a set of Daylighters and installed them on a Setina bumper that was installed on a 2008 Ford Crown Vic squad car. They offer an excellent light with an ultra-long range. I usually used them while driving at high speed to call emergency services in rural areas. These lanterns must be installed thread down despite no warnings or recommendations in the data sheet or installation guide. Otherwise, moisture will accumulate in the lamp body itself. (I know from past experience) As the moisture rose behind the reflector towards the bulb hole, it began to overflow the small drainage hole in the reflector. The reflector soon became like a partially filled aquarium. There are small holes at one end of the lenses to allow moisture to escape and must be installed with the hole facing down. This led me to this review. I liked the lights so much that in August 2012 I ordered 2 replacement reflectors and 2 replacement bulbs. Revain sent them out in 3 different boxes a few days apart, the boxes containing the reflectors and lenses had the same part number but one glass lens was clear and the other came with 'grooved' glass (like a tide?), while these lights were installed correctly and I had no problems with them. The light quality is excellent. Hope that helps. Conclusion: good light
