Happy Cricut Maker Customer - Will Buy Again

The initial launch of Cricut Maker was an amazing success! For the price (about $17) I figured I'd risk ignoring the negative reviews. I needed something to create templates for sewing projects that I do often (and therefore stack layers of fabric for faster cutting) - I've made a lot of masks, for example, and the cereal box templates are cut from my spinning blade. This is the ideal thickness to resist damage from a spinning blade. Notes: This is about the seventh project I've made with my Cricut Maker that I bought earlier this month. The knife blade is brand new and has just been calibrated before first use. Definitely had to trim it down to 11 inches to avoid star gears, but that worked out pretty well. So if you need to get something done quickly, 12Γ—12 is fine (just try not to wear out the wheels by overusing them). I went with the heavy chipboard which is rated at 2mm (damask chipboard would be more appropriate as the panels are 1.5mm thick). FOLLOW THE CAR! Seriously, with the material settings I had, Design Space would do 24 passes - know where I left off? 6. I've included a picture of the rug because you can see the outline of the cutout. Yes, this (half mutilated) rug is one of Cricut's most expensive lightweight rugs, but when I machine unwrapped it, it was bent and kept its curve no matter how much weight I put on it to flatten it *sigh* . I used Scotch Blue Painters Tape to attach the chipboard to the mat. I only had trouble prying it off in the spots where the sprockets kept passing, which probably made for a more secure bond to the chipboard. It will be necessary to see what will happen with future projects. which probably made for a more secure bond to the chipboard.
