Review on QNAP TS 230 Cortex A53 Quad Core Processor by Julio Fernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I will not buy again

Tons of downloaded viruses and crappy apps. Very slow and difficult to use. Simple functions like deleting a file or directory require many clicks and may or may not work. The internal software is terrible - example: FTP storage enabled and FTP external devices with the correct user and password. However, every time the file was written via FTP, a warning was written in the log file, there are thousands of them, why? The fan on the device broke last week 6 weeks ago. old. Likewise, I'm going to replace this piece of junk anyway. Update: Hard reset brought the fan back to life. After a month and 2 firmware updates I logged in and was told there was no volume or files on the device, but when I logged in from a network client via NFS the volume was there as were all files. Another hard reset and it started "working" again. Too expensive to maintain, a network drive has to be set up and forgotten. I replaced it with a more expensive Synology device and the difference was like night and day. Gave the unit away instead of sending it back as it works exactly as intended and that's the whole problem with it.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Reliability
