The Kiyo Pro firmware cannot be updated. Razer support sucks

*7-14-21 UPDATE: After I contacted Razer again and specifically requested an "extended RMA" they agreed to send me a replacement camera (where I pay for it first) and to send a return label for my defective Kiyo Pro. Got a refund and finally I have a Kiyo Pro with updated firmware and am very happy with its low light performance as a webcam. Shame on Razer that consumers know enough to ask for their "extended RMA" which I luckily heard about from another disappointed Kiyo Pro user. available! The Razer Synapse software will instruct you to update the camera firmware, but if you try to do so, a pop-up message will appear to contact Razer Support. When I called Razer, the rep first asked WHY I wanted to update the firmware (seriously?) and then told me that my camera's serial number was incompatible with their updated firmware. I've had the option of leaving the camera as is, sending it back to Revain, or sending it (at my expense) to Razer for a couple of weeks while they replace it. πŸ˜•"Maybe it was just a lemon" you say? I ordered a second Kiyo Pro camera from this Best Buy Store. I plugged it into another PC, proceeded to install the firmware and I got the same "Contact Support" message. Same problem with two Kiyo Pros from different vendors. Shame on you, traveler. Either create firmware that can be applied to your product and withdraw those that cannot accept it, or stop asking users to update camera firmware. This is embarrassing for Razer and consumers should be aware. A quick Google search revealed dozens of others are having the same issue trying to install the firmware to update the autofocus. The Kiyo Pro's autofocus is decent, but sometimes it's annoying to find a subject. If your lighting is decent, it's a minor issue, and you can set the focus manually too. GOOD: I'm actually considering KEEPING the Kiyo Pro even though I can't update the firmware and I'm ticked off in Razer. . It's a sexy-looking webcam (similar to a DSLR lens without a camera body), beats the competition with HDR and low-light performance, and is easy to set up in the Synapse software, which I already use with other Razer peripherals. Check out the HDR performance in my photos. You can see that with HDR disabled, the glare in my windows is blurry and distracting. I can't stand a key light hitting my face and prefer to bounce off the wall and use the natural light from the windows behind me, so I need a webcam with good low light performance and bright light capability to compensate. window behind me. I also like that the Kiyo Pro has a sturdy lens, a detachable USB-C to USB-A 3.0 cable (albeit a very short but interchangeable one), and offers three zoom levels (narrow, medium, and wide). ). To be honest if I DIDN'T KNOW there was a firmware update I can't install I'd be very happy with my webcam $$$ but I still don't know if I'd return that for the Logitech Brio supposed, as reviews on YouTube have shown, not so good in low light or HDR. Is Kiyo Pro the best webcam of 2021? Probably not, and it seems overpriced and can't be upgraded, but it's an improvement over my Logitech C920 and more than enough for Zoom meetings and video cameras for gaming. Try it if you like, but save the packaging and receipt and buy from seller with easy returns! 🀣
