The scanner does an acceptable job for the average user. I had a few thousand photos to scan and needed a faster way to use my flatbed scanner. I used Pandigital to scan my less valuable photos and am generally happy with the results. Since photos are only scanned at 300 dpi, I scanned the main photos on my flatbed scanner. Pandigital lets you easily scan 100+ photos in under an hour, and it's easy to use. I've tried scanning several 35mm negatives, everything is fine. In fact, they turned out better than in the photos. After 1000 scans I started getting lines or streaks and no cleaning helped. Since I had virtually scanned all my photos back then, I sorted them out. There is a clear plastic sheet under the rollers and I saw that there was dust there, probably from all my old photos. I wiped it off with a small rag, I had to wipe the glasses, put them back together and there are no more streaks on my scans. Problem solved. It's easy to do. You need a small screwdriver, 15 minutes and some patience. Then it's like new. Listen, if you have to leave your photos in a closet because you don't have time to digitize them, then this is the device for you.
