Review on Balios Bailos_Umb_Black Prestige Umbrella Windproof by Tasha Folan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks like a good durable umbrella. But boring color/style options.

I'm always on the lookout for "non-reversible" umbrellas. I'm fed up with cheap umbrellas that completely spoil at the first gust of wind. I usually choose GustBuster but the quality of my last GustBuster was disappointing so I tried Balios. Not much for color/design choices. It would be nice to have a choice of different colors and patterns. The Balios feels solid and the open/close mechanism works well. The first storm wasn't very strong, but I was sure that Balios wouldn't break. The wooden handle looks nice but gets slippery when wet. A soft grip would be easier to hold, but that's not so important. However, there are two small design flaws that bother me. First, there is no wrist strap on the umbrella handle. There is a strap on the case but it doesn't help me when using an umbrella. It should have a wrist strap so I can close it and dangle it from my wrist while trying to hold packages and open the front door. Second, the strap around the umbrella (with a clasp that allows you to close it) is too short. It is very tight and too difficult to place and snap into place. Very bad design. All in all, this is a good solid, albeit boring, umbrella that will get the job done. I just wish there was more focus on design and more colors available.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • So-so
