Review on πŸ”Œ ELEGOO UNO R3 Project Comprehensive Starter Kit with Tutorial – Compatible with Arduino IDE (Inclusive of 63 Items) by John Iverson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Suitable for components and sample sketches; Manual is bad for beginners

This is a decent kit in terms of the number and variety of parts and components included. I only had one broken part in my kit - a servo motor that didn't rotate a full 180 degrees. I replaced it with the exact same part I found at a local electronics store for $3. The included Arduino Uno Rev 3 board is of good quality. In fact it is now being used 24/7 in one of my projects which is a power outage monitor with cellular sms alert. In the meantime I have replaced the board with another Elegoo Uno Rev 3 board from Revain. A PDF manual is included along with sample code for all lessons. The tutorials and sample sketches cover the wide range of included components quite well. However, the manual only describes how to assemble and execute the sketches, and nothing more. It doesn't explain how the code works. In this respect, leadership is bad for learning. A beginner will most likely not be able to acquire the knowledge needed to write their own sketches or come up with their own project ideas. For beginners, I recommend getting a good book on Arduino and getting started with the components included in this kit. I recommend "Arduino for Dummies" by John Nussey. This ensures a good start. Once they finish the book they will have much more knowledge about Arduino hardware and C++ programming. You can then read the manual that came with this kit to learn more about the functions of some components that are not covered in the book.
