Well, you wouldn’t know that these are advertised as "water sandals”. They are fully closed toe shoes that just happen to have waterproof coating on them (water resistant) and dry quickly. These don’t have big holes or mesh fabric for water drainage like most water shoes. They are also heavier than thin flimsy pull-on water shoes, more like regular shoes. These have a thick rubber sole that extends high up the whole way around the foot. I would classify these as kids play shoes where you don’t have to worry if they go out in the rain and stomp in puddles. They may want to wear socks with them and since they’re not waterproof especially in the tongue, your kids feet will get wet. These These shoes do dry fast enough - and the format of them will keep pebbles and dirt from entering the shoe unlike typical water shoes.These shoes are true to size and I like that these have velcro across the upper foot so the width is a little more adjustable. Also the velcro makes for a pretty quick on and off but makes them sturdier than regular water shoes. They have good traction on the bottom of the sole, though I wouldn’t have my son use these as hikers.Although thee are heavier / bulkier than expected, they are pretty lightweight versus typical shoes. They are well-built, solid, and will be durable. We ordered these with the thought of wearing them to the water park but seeing how they are more like regular shoes, they will be his play shoes spring through fall.
