Velcro catches clothes

This has a lot of potential. Being pregnant (but barely showing right now), I was intrigued by the adjustability of this belt vs other popular brands and the combination of a Flipbelt type opening for water bottles and foldover/zipper pockets. Unfortunately, it's not that adjustable (already tight at the loosest setting), and the scratchy velcro piece (top band) is a little wider than the fuzzy part that catches the loops (bottom band), so even if you align it perfectly, there is still 1 to 2 mm of scratchy velcro sticking out, which caught on my clothes, or if you were to wear it against your skin, could scratch you. Also, the pocket alignment isn't ideal. A water bottle fits better across your back than the side of your hips. If you move the bottle so it sits in the back, that puts your phone on your hips, which in the sideways configuration (for a petite person, at least), is also awkward. Perhaps if the water bottle opening were on the other side, then you could have both the water bottle and phone positioned across your back and have an improved velcro or buckle system that connects in the front. For now, I'm jogging at a slow pace or walking, so I need something more for casual use. The Stashbandz belt suits my needs to hold my phone upright off to the side/back, cards, keys, and maybe a small water bottle. Post baby, if I get back into long distance running, I might get the CrosFace Universal Hydration Running Belt, which has a very adjustable buckle system and seems like it will work better if running at a faster pace. I would get the one without the water bottles and use my old Nathan or Amphipod bottles, though, because theirs seems like it would be hard to clean and could develop mold easily. Hope this helps.

Pros
  • Everything I wanted except a bit big. I had to modify to be able to Velcro well on a 30" waist
Cons
  • Can only hold smaller items due to its small size
