Marathon Training, got used to the bouncing

Some background: I’ve done 2 runs with the pack so far, one 12 miler and one 14 miler. I am a size 12 in women’s jeans. I wanted a more minimalist style belt like the Nathan Sports one with the soft flask, but this belt had seemingly good reviews and was more in my price range. It is relatively minimalist and I know I will only be using it on runs probably 10+ miles, moreso in hot weather. When I first started these 2 runs, I tried pulling the belt down toward my mid section. When it was in this position, it didn’t bounce or loop around my body. It stayed that way for about 30 seconds of running and I had to adjust it again and again. After around 2 miles of trying to pull it down, I kinda just let it turn around. By turn around, what I mean is that ideally the belt buckle is in the center of my front side and the side with the bottles are in the back. But as I keep running the belt moves around and eventually the bottle side is coming toward the front side of me.I adapt and I eventually become okay with and get used to the turning around and slight bouncing. It isn’t too bad and I’m happy to have the belt to begin with. The water bottles stay in place and it’s a decent amount of water. For a 14 miler in the hot sun (which lasted about 3 and a half hours on a slow training run) it wasn’t enough water for me (But was my first run with a water bottle so I didn’t have a system of conservation). Conversely on the 12 miler on a cloudy day I barely drank any of the water, and this was a little under 2 hours of a more steady paced run.So it depends for me on the weather. As for the size of the pocket, I put a few Gu’s in, and my phone in the pocket of my shorts. The pocket is kinda tight and I don’t want to be fumbling around for my phone if I need to. Only have one pair of shorts with pockets so we’ll see how it goes. 👌🏻I know I won’t be wearing this for the marathon because of water stations, but it’s a suitable belt for training for sure.

Pros
  • Sports & Outdoors
Cons
  • The belt may not stay in place during intense activity
