Review on πŸ”₯ High-Performance 8-Bay 64-bit NAS with 2 Built-in 10GbE (SFP+) Network Ports, Hardware Encryption, Quad Core 1.7GHz, 8GB RAM, and Dual 1GbE Connectivity – QNAP TS-832X-8G-US by Derick Carpenter

It's good but spend a little more and get TS-873-4G-US

I bought this not knowing how close the next 8- Bay was in the price. If you upgrade to TS-873-4G-US (or other iterations), you'll pay less than $200 ($731 vs. $900) and get: AMD x86-64-based CPU vs. ARM- Chip in this device - 2 ports 10G BaseT Ethernet (This has SFP+ ports that only need modules for copper). Ironically, buying two of them can make up the difference in cost. - 4 x RAM supported (64GB vs. 16GB) - HDMI output - Ability to add GeForce GT1030 for HDMI output and extra transcoding performance - Two M.2 SATA input slots in addition to the ability to add multiple PCIe cards with M. 2 to add for each model. Wow - after looking at it I'm about to swap mine out, but I've already started backing up and signed a support contract. I think I'll keep mine and get a TS873 or better next time. I save the dates so it happens sooner than I want.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
