USB doesn't work for weight input because the company changed the internals. At least not for me. The company uses a serial chip internally that converts to USB, but apparently that doesn't work very well for this device. Certainly this is a step backwards. The old ones had a USB chip. Why did they change? Maybe to save 25 cents per item. I can't get my Mac's USB input software to work. I tried to use SendIT for Mac mail software. It worked on older devices and should work on newer ones if you're running OSX Leopard. I couldn't get it to work with Leo. The developer was great and very helpful but I lost energy trying to figure it out. Especially since it really didn't help me much and didn't meet my needs. USB seems to work for PCs with parallels, but PC software is really archaic and useless. After all, I find it easy to just enter the weight on the screen. I don't need any programmatic input at all, so it's grossly overrated. I mainly use this for ebay and use their labels which still need to be entered manually. Like USB is very useful! USB works for me as it powers the device so I don't need a wall wart. I plug it into my monitor's USB port and the huge screen makes it easy for me to get readings. This is much better than a separate power supply. Yippee! I found the scale to be very accurate for both small letters and giant boxes. This is a fantastic device for the price and versatility and I would highly recommend it.
