Review on πŸ’‘ Helicoil 5521-5 5/16-18 Inch Coarse Thread Repair Kit: The Ultimate Solution for Thread Repair by Nigel Cohen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Saved my intake manifold

The threads on the thermostat housing were stripped and my choice for the repair was to get a different manifold (replace by myself}, remove the manifold for much easier access (it's a 318 in a Dodge van) or repaired on site. The first 2 would not start due to the time and labor involved. With option 3 I had limited space above for the drill to drill the stripped threads. Luckily I had an angle adapter for my drill but the drill kept jamming so I found the smallest drill that would fit the hole, started with the next size up and was able to drill the hole bit by bit (literally) to the right size for the thread I finished I need a 21/64" bit for this spiral coil kit as it is not included. As I had limited space to thread , Using a standard faucet holder wouldn't work at all. So I decided on a ratchet, put a 3/8" nut on it. You need a 12 point toe, and 6 point toes don't work properly. Voila! The hole is threaded, the spool goes easy in, the thermostat housing is sealed (using the "right material" is a good thing!), everything is fine.
