I used this 1 5/8" cutter primarily to cut 1" schedule 40 white PVC. I had about 20 cuts to make for the projects, and it was definitely a time-saver compared to a hack-saw.It is very sharp (hands beware). However, it does NOT cut straight, and later cuts were much worse than the early ones. To a degree, I was able to compensate by adjusting the angle of the tool, but for the cuts that needed to be dimensionally exact, I drew a straight circle around the pipe, and made the cut in 4-5 separate steps, and cleaned it up with a utility knife. Doing that is still less work than a hacksaw, but definitely not acceptable as a professional tool.I also used it to make clean cuts for push-fit joints on 1/2" and 1/4" drip tubing. With wimpy poly tubing, it's somewhat easier to compensate for the tool's inability to cut straight. The above would still likely land me at 4 stars, since I got the tool for under $15.I dropped to 3 stars because the blade is softer than my kitchen scissors. I literally bent the blade while making one of my later PVC cuts. And then bent it back to a (more or less) straight edge with needlenose pliers. You simply cannot do either with a properly hardened blade. So, until this falls apart, it will sit in my hobbyist's toolbox as a better-than-nothing solution, but if professional work is involved, stay away. You will waste far too much time (i.e. money) fighting the tool, and then it'll end up in the garbage.
