This is a very nice, functional cold pack. I play a ton of sports and I'm always getting bumps and bruises and needing cold packs. I also have extremely busted knees (torn pcl and arthritis in one, torn patella tendon in the other) and icing and heat therapy is crucial after a day of activity.This has a nice shape that helps conform to joints like knees, elbows, shoulders, etc. There are better ice packs out there for your actual limbs like thighs, calves, forearms, and biceps, but for joints this works great. That's specifically what it's made for, of course.As far as an ice pack goes, it works the same as any other ice pack you've ever used. Seems to hold and stay cold nicely. As a heat pack, it leaves a bit to be desired. I like that there's instructions on the pack itself for heating, but it's hard to get the correct temperature while microwaving it, and it's especially difficult to get even heat distribution. The inside is never quite as hot as I'd like when the outside is too hot. In a pinch it will work, but I'm probably going to be using this much more as a cold pack than a heat pack. I actually prefer just a hot water bottle with near boiling water in it for heat. For all applications, I just take a piece of cloth or clothing and tie it to myself. Works fine enough.
