Review on Contigo 14 Oz. Stainless Steel Vacuum-Insulated Mugs With Handles And Splash-Proof Lids, Pack Of 2, Salt Speckle & Dark Ice Speckle - Ideal For Hot And Cold Beverages by Nick Brunner

A leaky insulated mug.

(Update 6-15-2022: These things leak. In the video I did they seemed only to drip. In real life I've found they just pour out around the top sliding closure when tilted with the top on and the closure over the hole. It's almost not worth having the top they leak so badly. And what use is a trave mug that leaks like that? They call it splash proof. Yes, maybe splash proof, but not spill proof, not cascades-of-water proof. I took off two stars. This is basically a useless cup for me it spills so badly.)I love these mugs. I've gotten many diffrerent brands of insulated mug and few of them have the bullet-proof build quality of these Contigos. In particular, I am generally unsatisfied with non-Contigo mugs because, though they can keep warm with the Contigos, their lids don't last. The opening and shutting mechanisms of the drinking holes are particular areas of weakness on many mugs. Not these Contigos. This tumbler's lid is solid. It has a gasket with two lips on it that does a better job of sealing the lid than one-lip gaskets--plus, it doesn't come unseated as easily. The opening mechanism for drinking doesn't leak when closed and the mechanism is robust, unlike a recently discarded mug which had its opener break within a month of my receiving the mug.Overall, this mug not only looks handsome, it works better than other manufacturers' versions. One note: you wll have better luck opening and closing the lid if you do so with the drink hole open. Closed, the lid is hard to get on and almost impossible to get off.
