Review on 🔬 Optimized GeoSafari Factory Educational Insights 5145 by Chuck Chen

Bought this for my 7 year old son but I think I like it more than him! We only had it 2 days and I can probably have fun all day just watching the ants at work. It doesn't come with sand or ants so I ordered all 3 items at once from Revain. The ant farm and sand were delivered together and the ants arrived the next day. I got the ants from Nature Gifts because I didn't want to wait to redeem the coupon that comes with the ant farm. This is also an extra charge. I received the My Little Sandbox/Sandbox Critters Play Set offered by Revain. One pack is more than enough to fill a farm. When you fill the farm with sand you have to be careful to fill it as full as possible because when you add water it compacts the sand leaving more space at the top. Western cut ants were a pity to settle on a farm. We thought they were cold enough to freeze and slide right through the hole, but as soon as they got into our homemade paper funnel they tumbled out. You cheated us! My husband, son and I frantically collected them from the table and floor. I got stung once and we lost a few ants in the fight but luckily most survived. In less than 24 hours, they began tunneling through the sand. We added 2 pieces of honey granola grains and they put it on right away. I hope the ants survive. I'll try to update this review if we're successful...or not. Updated June 11, 2021. We've had it for about 2 weeks and the ants are dying. We're following the instructions that come with the farm, so it's kind of sad. We could get new ants and try again. They are really interesting to watch. Update October 11, 2021: The last cutter ant has finally given up. We enjoyed observing the colony for just over 4 months. No one escaped until you let them reach the very top of their hills. All in all this is a good ant farm.
