Ritchey Bar is a strong replacement

I bought this bar to replace a cheap bar that actually snapped in half while riding! The Ritchey bar is far and a way more sturdy, it must be three times thick gauge as the cheap bar, but consequently is heavier. I doubt this one will break while riding. The only problem was it was too wide for me (I was used to a shorter fixie style bar) so I took it to my LBS and they trimmed it to fit with no problem. I would recommend this bar.

Pros
  • Perfect upgrade
Cons
  • Possibility of increased hand fatigue during long rides

Modern bar for old bikes

It fixed up an 80s mountain bike and decided to order this handlebar since it had a decent amount of rise and was aluminum. It's a great solid bar with a nice finish and plenty of width but trimable if you want something narrower. The bar tapers from the 1in clamp area to the 22mm grips very gradually. This made it difficult to install in my single bolt quill stem but makes the bar stiffer.

Pros
  • Great set of bars for my oldschool hardrock.
Cons
  • May not offer as much shock absorption as other handlebar models

Satisified with these bars

These (like most) were quick and easy to install. I got them to replace my old Titec Hellbent bars that were bent from a hard crash. These are quite a bit thicker and sturdy compared to some other bars. They're also a bit wider and great for extra control. Going from a flat bar to a riser has been a nice change. It feels more comfortable all around, especially going down steep hills. Puts more of your weight over the rear wheel.

Pros
  • Perfect fit for a old pair of Bonnie and Clyde Trek cruisers with quill stems.Very happy
Cons
  • Crazy heavy, returned immediately. Buy a pipe at Home depot and save weight.

Great, cheap and sturdy way to spruce up an old tank.

Love these bars. Great way to spruce up an old MTB on the cheap. Bars are a little heavier than others out there, but are very strong, a drop in the bucket compare to how much the rest of the bike weighs. Much more comfortable and longer than the original flat bars. I can't wait to hit the trails with them. I feel like a real MTB-er now.

Pros
  • Replaced orig bars on 2001 Specialized S-works which were so tiny. Huge difference and very happy!
Cons
  • messed up order now I have two!

Ritchey makes nice stuff.

Ritchey makes killer stuff. Some say the handlebars are heavy, but I thought the delivery box felt empty when it arrived. This bar is light and strong. Sturdy enough for clamp on bar ends and the type of riding I do. Nice black wrinkled finish. 670 mm width and about a 1.5" rise. Perfect upgrade to my 1994 Cadex carbon fiber CFM3.

Pros
  • Features a standard 25.4 bar clamp diameter
Cons
  • Handlebar material may not hold up to extreme weather conditions

Thick and heavy! best in my review

Updating my 1997 MTB and replaced an Aluminum 21" handlebar with this Ritchey handlebar. Easy to install, and the extra 5.5" in length will be very helpful on the trails. I'm not happy about the weight. Substantially heavier than the 23 year old handlebar I'm replacing. Another problem is the tube walls are thick (the source of the extra weight) so I need to find bar-ends that will fit that. Totally at a loss about why Ritchey would make such a thick and heavy bar. Definitely watering down the…

Pros
  • ‎unisex-adult
Cons
  • May not be as easy to adjust or customize as other handlebar models

Is this really a Ritchey bar?

I swapped a Ritchey Comp straight bar out for this Ritchey riser bar. The bake and sifter clamp rings would not slide on the this bar yet it was supposedly the same dia as the one they came off of. Forget about bar end plugs or mirror that mount by insertion into the bar ends, I have never seen a bar with wall thickness that this one has. It goes to the dump or maybe I could use it as a jack handle, a waste of money.

Pros
  • ‎RITCHEY
Cons
  • Handlebar may not be as versatile for switching between different riding styles

Great bars, well made, thick walled, Ritchey quality

In the 1970’s I bought a Tom Ritchey hand made bike frame from Palo Alto cycles. Rode it daily for decades. 3 shoulder surgeries and old age made me ditch the tight drop bars and I sold the bike.My old bars were a bit bent from an accident last year. I also needed a more upright ride to ease my shoulder pain and I wanted a Ritchey "reminder” on my current Bike so I bought these bars.Out of the box, they are the same Ritchey quality that I’ve known since my 1977 Ritchey frame that Tom hand…

Pros
  • Parts & Components
Cons
  • Could potentially cause hand numbness during longer rides

A bit heavy at 470g and very thick. Also, the rise is 35mm not 30mm.I needed something longer than the 620mm and was 24.5mm clamp on a old MTB my buddy gave me.670mm length was perfect, couldn't find longer for my clamp diameter, but 670mm fits great and just long enough. 9 degree Backsweep is perfect and common. 2 degree upsweep I thought wouldn't be enough but it's not bad at all. Would be nice if it was more but compared to the original handlebars which had a drastic backsweep and upsweep…

Pros
  • Constructed out of 6061 alloy, the Comp SC Rizer is both durable and light weight
Cons
  • May not offer enough hand positioning options for some riders

My wife loves this bar!

I needed to raise my wife's handle bar rise and this handle bar worked perfectly. The numbness in her hands disappeared and she is very happy.

Pros
  • They’re 2 grams heavier than my other bars…. Oh wait I’m not a douche!!! The bars are great.
Cons
  • Lift and sweep were not what the literature claimed, sent them back.

Don't Leave This Around An Angry Wife

Product arrived unscathed, wrapped in plastic bag and cushioned with packing paper.Just finished mounting it, and whereas I haven't taken it out, I can already feel a difference in the comfort level positioned on the bike. The 580mm Ultralight XC bar that was on the bike was wonderful for running fairly simple track/trails, but a heckin' pain for general riding. This bar is roughly 1lbs, and in my excitement to mount it, I forgot to weigh it.It's very solid, the anodizing was superb, on a level…

sturdy bars that are actually a lil overkill for the .

thick, sturdy bars that are actually a lil overkill for the all mountain bike that I put them on ('04 Cannondale Jekyll 600)

Pros
  • The Ritchey Comp SC Rizer features an extra-tall 30mm of rise for added comfort control
Cons
  • Possibility of handlebars being too wide for some riders' preferred riding position

really heavy best in my review

The first thing I noticed when I picked it up was, this thing is really heavy -- like its distracting.I'm not a weight weenie, but it really seems excessive. I can't understand why they would make it so thick. I have to carry that weight going uphill. Is it even aluminum? It looks like they're getting loosey goosey with the things they put their name on.

Pros
  • Nice product. Use on older MB rebuild. High quality
Cons
  • Limited range of use for specific types of bikes and terrain

Make sure it fits before buying

Unfortunately does not fit a one pice neck. Seller only had a 30 day return policy and I didn’t get around to trying to swap it. My fault so off to eBay with it.

Pros
  • Needed some wide bars for my city bike, great, easy install and nice feel
Cons
  • Price point may not be affordable for all consumers

5 Star bars with one little issue

Love everything about this handlebar except for one thing…I can’t find any at grip end plugs to fit the small diameter inside the bars. The only thing I know to do is use the one piece rubber bar grip with the rubber ends that are hard to put on and remove.

Pros
  • Quality product for a great price!
Cons
  • These are THICK and heavy. Good solid bar but unnecessarily heavy.
