Just wonderful! Highly recommended !

I have been using this controller for 4 years now. I use a splitter and run two 300 watt heaters in my 220 gallon moba setup. I love it! All the time it has worked flawlessly and never failed. I highly recommend this controller.

Fish Griller 6 month warranty Less than a year

I've had this controller for less than 10 months. higher every day. The power light was off so I figured it was just a high internal temp, but further investigation revealed all of my 500w heaters had been running for the past few days.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Basically okay but...

Finnex temperature controller works for me

I have been using Finnex temperature controllers for five years and I am still satisfied with their performance and durability. Since purchasing through Revain, all vendors have processed and shipped my orders to my satisfaction. As some of my previous purchases were made years ago I now keep 1-2 extras just in case! In short, I was happy with the Finnex controllers and their cost.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • There are flaws

Works well, just not overloaded.

Works well, good price and reasonably accurate thermostat. Would like a replacement fuse. I blew a fuse on one of these units I've been using for a while, way overrated, with a bucket heater and power cord. They are not rated for an additional 1500 watts. I would not recommend more than 800 watts. I was able to replace the fuse with a soldering iron and a new fuse holder, but it's not for everyone.

Never again.: Aquarium Heater

I HAD 5 large fish (paku) now have 3 due to malfunction of this unit. It literally fried my fish. I spent hours changing the water and holding them upright over the aerators to keep them alive (my kids even helped). I managed to save 3 and slowly repair the damage thanks to a lot of Melafix. As much as I appreciate the heating elements myself for not breaking them, I will never use this type of regulator again.

  • Price

  • Low Maintenance

Worked two nights!

We ordered this in late February 2015 and used it once, living in South Florida we only need it 3-4 nights a year at most. It was back in the box and we only got it this week, 11 months later. He worked the second night, but last night we found out he's not working anymore. I really think for the price a product like this should last more than two nights. It only has a six month warranty so I am currently looking for a product that is better made.

Pros
  • Cool product

  • Negative experience

The product works great!

I used this temperature controller in my 210 gallon salt plant with an 800w JBJ titanium heater after the expensive JBJ digital controller gave up the ghost after only 6 months of use. I'm not a big fan of digital controllers as they are very sensitive to power line problems, surges, surges and the like. I had connected a JBJ device to a small UPS to protect it from such interference, but it still failed. Must be bad quality. Not what you would expect from a $200 heater. So far the Finnex…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Good, but not great

UPDATE: Fixes heater thermostat quality issues but fails after 18 months.

I needed to fix an Italian made immersion glass heater that I bought at a large pet store. Initially the temperature was 4 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the settings, and a few weeks later when I bought this controller the temperature changed 10 degrees before I manually modulated it (plugged in/unplugged). The water temperature remains constant within 0-1 degrees Fahrenheit. The reading on the dial is about 2 degrees lower than my thermometer reading, but it's easy to deal with. This setting…

Great for peace of mind in heated aquariums

If you look at aquarium heater reviews you will find that all of them have a certain percentage of people warning of the dangers of the heater failing when it is on, meaning that the heater's internal thermostat will not turn the heater off when it's on, properly adjusted, and overheating the tank. This temperature controller helps solve this problem by providing an independent temperature sensor and shutdown mechanism. This controller has three wires: a temperature sensor wire that you plug…
