Great Value Moisture Meter

We had a shower where it appeared there could be a leak behind a wall, but how to know without cutting a hole in the wall? Well, my first try was to drill decent-sized hole in the wall, and insert an endoscope camera.I did this and it appeared it was dry inside the wall, so that was good news. But, if you had this meter, you can just push the probes through the wall and the meter will indicate if there is any moisture, a much less invasive measure. Actually, plumbers charged me $50 or so to do…

Pros
  • Works great at a good price.
Cons
  • Does not provide accurate results when used in extremely high or low temperatures

I’ve always wanted one of these ever since I was replacing some siding on my house. I had put up the siding too wet and some cracked over time. Having a moisture sensor such as this would have helped me identify when the siding was dry enough to put up.I tested this unit out on some wood in my garage as well as some wood I had out front that had recently been in the rain. The numbers look accurate given what I researched. I’m looking forward to doing more wood projects around the house and…

Pros
  • Multi-functional: Not only is this moisture meter ideal for detecting water damage in buildings, it can also be used for testing firewood or other types of wood to ensure they are dry and ready to use
Cons
  • The pins may become dull over time and require replacement for accurate results

For $12.99 you have nothing to lose with this gadget!

This little gadget does what is says. We tried it on several different piles of cut wood that we will be using for the wood stove and they are all at different levels of dryness based on how long they have been cut and split. We also tried on kiln dried construction materials to see if it worked based on the directions.Very handy, fits in your pocket

Pros
  • Multi-Functional: Temperature display, ℉/℃ switch, LCD backlit display, One key freezes readings, Low battery indicator, Manual/Auto-off
Cons
  • Battery life is limited, requiring frequent replacements

Easy to use good for me

I recently ordered the pocket wood moisture meter. It arrived packaged well. The only assembly required was inserting the batteries, which were included. Instructions are included on how to use the meter. It was ordered to test our firewood before bringing it inside to burn in the fireplace. It works as intended and the size is perfect.

Pros
  • Accurate readings: The Digital Moisture Meter is designed to provide accurate readings when detecting water or moisture content in wood, firewood, walls, drywall, paper brick, concrete building materials, and other materials
Cons
  • The pins may leave unsightly holes in wood or other materials

Small device that seems to work

I don't have another humidity sensor to test against, so I'm guessing this works based off the materials I tested it on. I like that it is small and easy to use. I wish there was a guide for materials and ranges of each mode # on the back of the device or something, anything more durable than the instruction sheet. Also, the description and title say it works with drywall but the instructions don't mention which mode # to use with drywall. I played around and it seemed to work fine, but it…

Pros
  • Scanners & Testers
Cons
  • Not recommended for use in hazardous environments such as wet or damp areas

Just what I needed for my opinion

This is the perfect meter for builders and woodworkers. If you've bought lumber from the big box home centers, you know they runeth over with moisture. With this pocket size meter, you'll be able to tell how much and find the boards that are right for your project. It comes with a table of materials, different species of wood and construction materials such as, cement, lime, or brick. It will also give you the temperature of those materials. I like it and I think you will too.

Pros
  • This moisture meter can be used to measure the moisture content of a wide variety of materials, making it a great tool for professional and DIY projects alike.
Cons
  • Requires a steady hand and a certain level of skill to use effectively

Simple To Use for my opinion

I build a lot of things out of pressure treated lumber, and it is always water logged when you purchase it. Numerous times, even after waiting many days, I will paint or stain it only to have the paint/stain bubble up a few days later from the moisture still in the wood. This little moisture meter will save me a lot of grief. I did a quick test and it seems to work fine. The meter is simple to use and the instructions do give testing info for various species of wood and for various materials…

Pros
  • Does what is says. Small, compact and handy. Decent quality for it's price.
Cons
  • Requires regular calibration to maintain accuracy

Excellent for the price, wish the probes were a bit longer

This is very handy when shopping for rough cut lumber to make sure the piece you are selecting is dry enough for the area. It is species compensated so much more useful than some of the others which can give you an idea of the change in moisture content but not absolute levels. The only thing I would change on it is to make the probes longer and allow it to be hammered into a piece of wood to get a reading more near the center, but it works fine for any 4/4 sizes.

Pros
  • The moisture meter is made with high-quality materials, ensuring that it is long-lasting and can withstand frequent use
Cons
  • May not work well with green or freshly cut wood

Works well but: my feedback

Works ok but several of the listed wood types are for certain woods not found in the US. For instance the pines listed are chinese pines. I am not sure how this affects the readings. So it makes it useless for me. Also don't lose the instructions or you won't know how to use the device. It's not self explanatory.

Pros
  • Versatile Uses: Widely used for measuring firewood and Building Material, Lumber, Paper, Bamboo, Concrete, Gypsum, Lime, Brick, and any other wood
Cons
  • Reads moisture levels only at the specific point where the pins are inserted

Just what I needed best in my review

I need this to test the moisture in my washroom walls because I was having leaks. It works perfectly and let me know pretty much where the leaks were!

Pros
  • Moisture Meters
Cons
  • Can be affected by electromagnetic interference from other nearby devices

Works well on my review.

Works well. Thanks for attention. Had a little trouble figuring out all the functions. But got it after a bit of reading.

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • Repeated use on the same spot can damage the wood or material being tested

Seems to be a decent little gadget.

It’s small and easily fits into my pocket, purse, or tool bag. It comes with two AAA Batteries. I tested skin, wet cardboard, hardwood floor in front of the dishwasher, and just to see the results I carefully put the prongs under running water. It displays the temperature and moisture content. It’s a very lightweight product. There is a cover for the sharp prongs when it’s not in use.

Pros
  • Efficient
Cons
  • May not work well on materials with a high resin content
