What a sweet keepsake!

love it! But I have some thoughts and advice if you are doing this with a child. First, make sure your baby is sleeping! I tried this with a newborn who was awake and just couldn't hold his hand open long enough for a print. So we waited for him to fall asleep but the clay started drying out a bit so it didn't work with his handprints. And he wanted to close his hand a little while he was sleeping so that you could tell he was reaching for the clay and putting his fingers in the mold. but it's normal! quickly! Clay takes a long time to dry completely, but it will start to dry out a bit on the surface and then look a little dry when you make a print if you don't work fast enough. Third, use your dry fingertips to lightly brush the surface before pressing your hand or foot onto the clay. It was very difficult for me to smooth out all the bumps with a rolling pin, but I found that a light touch with my fingertips makes the surface much nicer! Fourth, if you have baby footprints, don't try it alone. We needed at least two people for this. One to hold the child, one to hold the frame/sound. And maybe even a third to stick an arm or leg in the clay. We figured since it's so small there would be enough room for both legs and both arms, so we did. I'm glad we did, but with each print you're extruding some of the clay, so we have ripples around the prints from all the extruded clay. I agree because I like having all four, but remember this will happen if you try to do more like us. I'm so glad we have this special keepsake. It looks amazing and I can't wait to get the perfect photos of it.
