Another layer of protection

It's just a deterrent when you're really in the mood, but it certainly adds security to a normal hit and grab. I work in law enforcement and have found that only on rare occasions or maybe a 'professional' thief has the tools to get this out of your car. I drive stretch-cab trucks on and off duty and carry a backpack of sorts with me almost all the time, and I find it handy to ensure that the usual "crack/meth head" doesn't have easy access. to. The holes in the mesh are 4" x 4" in my opinion when stretched and if you really want to empty the package; Bag after bag they could, but it certainly wouldn't be as simple as smashing a window and carrying my bag or backpack away with a simple movement. It's compact when not in use and packs down to about the size of a softball. This came in handy when I had to stay overnight in the aircraft terminal with little luggage. I just locked him in the airport chair next to me and fell asleep knowing that when I woke up he would still be there. As I said, knowing he's in a steel mesh is off-putting and adds a little more intelligence, rather than just sitting there unattended waiting to be taken away. Great for laptop cases and more, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything smaller like a purse unless something comes out with smaller openings of around 2 inches or so.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet
