Review on ASUS PCE AC88 AC3100 802 11AC Adapter by Mateusz Rzeczycki ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not quite what I wanted, but mostly okay.

Windows itself did not find a driver for this device. Since I do not have a disk drive in my PC, I, as expected, downloaded the necessary drivers from the official Asus website. They are dated 2022. As a result, the adapter worked, began to catch the network. However, I could only join the 2.4 GHz band. He saw the 5th, but gave an error when connecting. I looked everywhere for a solution to this problem, but nowhere was there anything sensible. I changed channels on the router and did nothing at all. Now important information, I hope someone will help, so that you do not suffer like me. The fact is that Asus has old drivers on the official (!) site. and no one seems to be going to ate them there. These drivers didn't work for me. Fortunately, I thought of getting onto the disk through another PC with a floppy drive. And what do you think? In the era of our high technologies, when the disk drive is already losing its meaning, Asus placed drivers dated 2022 on their disk, and they work great! I was immediately able to connect to the 5 GHz range and I had no more problems. Judging by the many topics and questions, this problem appears in many. Thanks to Asus for the nerves spent and for making it so difficult to click a couple of clicks and put the latest drivers on their official website. : began to fall off constantly after the N-th amount of time. Nothing but rebooting the PC helps. None of the suggested solutions on the internet help. It can work stably for an hour or a day, but it will inevitably fall off. As a result, I changed to another adapter.

Pros
  • • Very fast, squeezes the maximum out of my Internet (~ 350 Mbps, I plan to install more), the speed is exactly the same as over the wire. • Reliability. So far, it has not been possible to test it in the long term, but in any case, in a couple of days of active use, there was not a single drop, speed jump or ping. • Cool design and the ability to install antennas both behind the device and on a remote magnetic platform.
Cons
  • • Drivers, one huge flaw that got me on a lot of nerves. See comments. The rating is reduced solely for this item, the adapter itself is super. • Price. I have to put up with the price tag, I tried cheaper models like Archers, they didn’t give out speeds and constantly fell off.
