Review on TP-Link Deco X60: Ultimate Whole-Home Mesh Wi-Fi3-Pack with WiFi 6 AX3000 by Adam uciuk ᠌

Good value for money, I recommend it.

In general, I liked the approach to building a home wireless network with this mesh. I have a set of three nodes. All nodes are wireless. Checked the speed between wireless devices via iperf3. I got about 800 megabits in my conditions with my devices. One node is used to access the network of a pair of desktop PCs and a laptop through a switch connected to one of the ports of the node. That also works well. I note that it is worth putting the nodes halfway to the place where Wi-Fi from them will be used. I first tried to place all the nodes directly in the rooms. The result came out worse than placing the nodes in the hallway near the rooms. Unfortunately, many important features have been lost in favor of simplicity. For example: * Cannot disable DHCP in router mode; * You can not use static IPv6 on the external interface with automatic configuration of addresses in the network by a dedicated prefix; * You can not configure the used Wi-Fi channels; * If the Amazon server is located in the same address space that is used for the local network, then it will not be accessible from the isolated guest network in access point mode; And other annoying little things. In summary, you can use it in router mode if your network setup requirements are typical, or in AP mode with a separate router if you want to deviate from typical usage scenarios.

Pros
  • Easy setup; Flexibility in installation options; Good speed even in wireless mesh mode;
Cons
  • Sometimes the simplification is done beyond measure;
