The fact that these points require a separate proprietary router or a server with controller software is neither a disadvantage nor an advantage. For me, it's more convenient to ate the software and configure everything centrally. I think that most of those who have grown to such hardware already have a server for installing the controller on the farm. On the other hand, this creates a risk that in case of problems with the manufacturer, software support will be terminated and the use of access points will become problematic.
