Good product and relatively easy to install at the bottom and top of the stairs. I know the manufacturer warns against using the gate at the top of the stairs, but the overall design and installation really isn't any different from other brands of pressure plumbing that suggest the pressure pad cups need to be installed on the walls in order to to be used on the stairs. . I think the manufacturer is just too cautious to avoid a future lawsuit. I originally bought a Regalo brand gate but found the gate opening too narrow to walk comfortably without turning sideways. I'm not that tall at 5ft 10in and 180lbs. It was uncomfortable climbing stairs and I was afraid of losing my balance when carrying a child. KidCo's gate opening is about 6 inches wider, which makes a big difference. I had to email the manufacturer for information on the correct extension to purchase separately for my application. They responded very quickly with helpful and accurate information. I also used an available Y-spindle, which you can purchase separately, to attach the gate to the stair railing. I attached it to a larger diameter Newell spindle than a smaller diameter spindle for extra strength and it worked fine.
