Review on Wireless Electronic Ballast Interface Certified by Chris Ledet

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works perfectly. Quality design

I've been using it to power a couple of RGB LED strip kits for a few months now. The initial setup with the Smartthings Hub took some time because the Android phone app didn't recognize the ballast correctly. I use Google Home to interact with my Smartthings hub and I can now control the color and intensity with voice commands. If you can't get it to work with the Smartthings app on your phone, you can log into your hub via an internet browser and update the type to Zigbee RGB Bulb and it should work. PRO: works great. Quality design. 6 amps allows the use of two 15 inch RGB LED strips. I had no problem dimming to near zero as some other reviewers had issues with the 0.24V option for double width strips. CONS: The plastic tabs you have to press to insert the wire are flimsy. . I broke two tabs trying to plug in a 12 ga cable for a 6 amp power supply. Better to have screw terminals. It seems that adding other Zigbee devices to a Smartthings hub can break the hub's connection to the ballast, requiring a power cycle. Not that big of a problem once you understand what caused it. A bit pricey but still cheaper than some of the other options. Setup can be a bit tricky if you're not using a Hue bridge or a bridge that the vendor sells. UPDATE: Upgrade to 5 stars. I've been using it for over a year now and have had only minor issues. Due to a firmware update on my Smart Things controller, I had to turn off the power twice. Otherwise it worked perfectly with my Google Home via an interface to my Smart Things Hub. Changing colors and turning bands on and off only takes about a second to update with voice commands. I can also change the intensity and color using the Smart Things app on my phone.
