Review on πŸ“» Ultimate Handheld VHF Transceiver/GPS Combo: Yaesu FTA750L - Your Perfect On-the-Go Communication and Navigation Companion by Adam Gray

Does not show frequency tags during a scan. Excellent reception.

What's the point of a scan function that only shows frequencies and can't also show related tags that we typed in, like "ATL TOWER" when it stops on an active frequency? Instead, with that big beautiful display, it just shows the frequency and the SCAN underneath even stops at the active frequency. You can scroll down the frequencies without being in scan mode with their text tags and manually monitor individual stations that way, but I can't find what is scanning and showing the text tag. Obviously this isn't an issue for everyone if your main glass or transceiver is showing a station and you know the frequencies for your airport, but for those who frequently fly in other busy airspaces, this is a frustrating oversight from Yeasu. Reception and transmission are the best features of the FT-750. . Loud, clear sound that doesn't tire or debilitate. Install it on a decent antenna and it will work very well. Otherwise a very reliable transceiver, mostly menu dependent, but they're not that bad. Things like having to go into SETTINGS to enable GPS rather than through the GPS menu, but nothing that poses a problem if you turn it off. Very good water resistance and construction is better than many transceivers I have used. I haven't used the much-vaunted VOR and ILS navigation features, but I can say the GPS is fast and accurate.
