I received this set as a gift for myself when I vowed to learn to knit. I tend to go nuts when I find a tricky new hobby to delve into, so I bought this all in one set of circular knitting needles at the urging of my more advanced knitting friends who suggested that 1) I need definitely circular needles, knitting needles and 2) I would save money by not buying tons of individual circular needles. Pros: These pins are so pretty! They make you want to knit. :) In fact, there are many sizes, so you're almost guaranteed to get the right size needle for whatever project you take on. The cables can be joined together to form a very long cable if required. I had no problems with the yarn tangling or tangling in the aluminum needles. I like the tote bag that keeps everything organized and easy to find. If I didn't have this case I would never have the right needles because they would be scattered all over my endless 'craft box'. Cons: Nothing. NOTHING. It's more frustrating for a beginner knitter when halfway through the first project, the cable comes loose and falls out of the needle. As a new knitter, this happened to me and I was devastated because I still didn't know how to recover my work and solve the problem. Pooh. I had to start over and check the connections obsessively every time I started a new line. So, word to the wise: Connections love to be untied! I started using masking tape on the joints when I started a new project. Accompanying - when the connections started to loosen a little, my yarn stuck to it and bunched up a bit. All in all, this set is a great gift for the beginner or advanced knitter and really encourages you to touch and knit! I just wish the connections were a little tighter. :)
