This document briefcase is probably larger than you think. It can expand up to almost 7.5" depp when fully unzipped & can handle letter (or A4) size documents & folders. There is a LOT of room in here!There are also sewn in pocketed dividers with cards pockets (credit, social security, etc.) & document pockets to further aid with organization.The briefcase is rated fireproof AND waterproof & is constructed of a silicone fiberglass fabric that can withstand temps of up to 2000 degrees F. However, I haven't tested such claims. Although, if your choice is a plastic filing bin or this case, then you might as well take the shot & go for this case.There is a lock (which is set to 0-0-0 by default). However, no documentation is included to show how to change this. According to the listing, however, the procedure to CHANGE the passcode is: Press and hold the PUSH button to adjust the password you want to set. However, the lock is easily defeated if someone really wants in. More of a deterrent from nosy snoopers than anything else.Overall, you can really get your important documents, cards, passports, birth certificates, etc. well organized in one convenient location with this bag. Even with the concerns noted above, I can still recommend this item without hesitation.
