Review on ๐Ÿ“ถ Asus USB-AC56 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Adapter with Wireless-AC1300 and USB 3.0 Connectivity by Roger King

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not what I expected.

DSL-AC68U router on the first floor and workstation with USB-AC56 on the second floor. I expected this to be the best combination for my wireless solution. However, I am very disappointed with the 5GHz stability. It can work for a few hours, but then the connection becomes very unstable and pretty much useless. I've hooked it up to 2.4GHz now and it's been very stable for a few days, getting up to 25Mbps of my 80Mbps VDSL compared to a PC connected directly to the router via cable. The signal level shows -45dbm. The LAN transfer is a 32 Mbps download from another computer on the LAN and a 40 Mbps upload. At the same time, the adapter software shows a connection quality of 115 Mbit/s. 3 out of 5 stars for unreliable 5GHz connection. ********* Update Read S1N1C's review on device drivers. I uninstalled the Asus software and driver, restarted my computer and then installed the driver just for the Edimax EW-7822UAC and now it works very stably on 5GHz and I get the maximum speed available for my VDSL connection as well as a good transfer rate in the local network. I don't give 5 stars for ASUS' buggy software/driver package, but now it definitely deserves 4 stars. Very satisfied.
