Because there were 110 people working in the new office, there was an immediate requirement for noise protection. Before that, there was a model called the Sennheiser 280 pro; I will contrast them with that model. I took headphones solely for the purpose of utilizing the active noise cancellation. You immediately feel pressure on your ears, which is an accurate comparison to being in an elevator at a high speed. I made it much quieter by closing the window, but even with it shut, I could still make out some sounds. Comfortable for long-term use (unlike senheisers). The noise isolation provided by the passive construction is subpar. Sennheisers are better. The same goes for sound, and in many ways it is even more transparent. It came as a complete surprise to me when I heard new notes in familiar compositions, particularly at the bass level (light, barely audible). Something has changed with the way the sound has developed. The sound has a wider range of colors, but less contrast between them. When compared to photography, it's very similar to a histogram. At Bose, the sound is neutral, but you can make out all of the nuances. And with Sennheisers, a touch more "cool"; this is due to the loss of some subtleties, but in general, the sound became more distinct and interesting. The same kind of situation can be found underground. After removing the headphones, it is unclear how I was able to function normally in such a loud environment in the past. However, it does appear that the level of noise has not significantly decreased. In general, I am very happy with the purchase; however, there were no other options available to me in the noisy office where I worked. Well worth the purchase price, and very satisfying to work with. But if there is silence, I'd rather listen to music through my old Sennheiser headphones than just sit in it.
