Review on Verizon Wireless Jetpack 4G LTE Advanced Mobile Hotspot - Novatel 7730L by Justin Albright

Poor hardware reception and accuracy

I bought this device for a trip from New York to San Francisco (about 2.5 weeks) and paid for the Verizon Prepaid Datapack 4G LTE plan. I have to say I'm very disappointed and here are some hard facts: 1. Reception was poor near the border or outside of urban areas. My iPhone X (running t-mobile) has better reception than a dedicated device with data plan (running Verizon), which I find very odd. Perhaps the iPhone X technology is much better, even if T-Mobile is said to have less coverage outside of major metropolitan areas compared to Verizon?2. This device often indicated the presence of 4G LTE streaming near borders or outside urban areas; However, my Macbook Pro or iPhone X connected to this device's Wi-Fi network was not getting any internet at all. This is very confusing as you would at least expect the device to tell the truth about whether there is internet. If it's slow, the device shouldn't show the full service band with the 4G LTE logo. Of course, if you're using this device in cities, that's fine no matter what carriers you pay for. I suppose most reviews should indicate city use? However, fact 2 above suggests that this device is untrustworthy. If you already have an iPhone, I suggest you just pick your carrier of choice (or find a better device). took it to the Verizon store to buy a prepaid 4G LTE plan. Verizon even asked me to pay $10 for another SIM card and I had to argue with them that the device is branded and I don't have to pay twice for a SIM card. Very disappointed in this device to be honest and Verizon is not for me. Needless to say, I sent this unit back.
