Lack of optical zoom makes it nearly useless

This is a projector with great image and sound quality in theory, but I didn't appreciate how badly it would be crippled by lack of an optical zoom. Chances are the only way you will be able to use this effectively is to mount it on your ceiling. Even 12 ft away from the screen is otherwise too far away for most situations. You can crop the image to fit your screen, but then you'll lose the vast majority of pixels and end up with a disappointingly low-resolution image. Also, being a "laser projector" doesn't mean much - it doesn't project the image with modulated laser beams or anything like that. it's just a laser light source with an LCD filter, so your blacks aren't particularly black, and the whole area around the screen suffers from a gray halo that is ugly and distracting. For a relatively high priced projector, the lack of optical zoom is REALLY disappointing, and I am seriously considering sending it back.

Pros
  • Works against a plain wall, super well. Great for an average 2 bed apartment.
Cons
  • Not fair.
