Review on TP-Link TL-WN821N N300 USB Wireless WiFi Network Adapter for PC, Compatible with Windows/Linux/Mac OS by Wiktor Paul ᠌

Not happy with this product, bad in use.

The device does not correspond to the price and the declared speed. A 300Mbit link shows 5-6m from the point, behind the inner wall. So the sensitivity is good. With overheating, I also did not see any problems, no matter how you download torrents - barely warm. But with the speed - trouble. The real speed on drivers from the TP-LINK website is 25/40 Mbps (download/upload), and on drivers from Realtek rtl8192cu (I have ver.4) - 60/70 Mbps, respectively. Torrents download at speeds up to 7.5 MB/s. Moreover, the drivers from Realtek have additional settings, for example, the antenna configuration. Depending on it, the speed changes. Maximum when set to "2". That is, the real speed is completely identical to the Chinese 150 Mbps dongle, barely peeking out of the USB port. A link of 300 Mbps is pure marketing .

Pros
  • small, works with Android TV Box
Cons
  • speed is slaughtered, drivers on home site
