Review on Motorad MGC 791 Locking Fuel Cap by Michael Custodio

Revainrating 5 out of 5

gas thief best in caps

I bought this lockable gas cap because I live in an area where things usually disappear overnight. One night I woke up at 2am because I heard someone outside the window. And don't you know someone sucked gas out of my tank no more than 12 feet from me? Not only did they take most of the gas, they ripped the cap off my tank. It's bloody expensive to have my gas go to waste so I grabbed it when I saw it was only $6. I've had this cap on my car for 3 weeks now and the only time the fuel needle moves is when I'm driving my car and that's what I like. The lock itself is very easy to use and easy to spot if it's not locked properly. When properly latched, the top of the lid rotates in place but does not unscrew from the container. In my estimation, this cover has already paid for itself 3 times. Since it's only been a few weeks, I'll update this post later to let you know how it's holding up or holding up. Update date 10/24/2012 : The gas cap is still active. Someone tried to pick the lock to get to the tank last night. I see scratches where they tried to tear it off. I'm happy to report that they didn't succeed. I think it's safe to say I'm very happy with the performance.
