Review on Yokohama Ice Guard IG65 235/45 R18 98T winter by Micha Micha ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The right product for me, the price suited me.

225/50/17 (issue 28 week 2022) The tires are brand new and have only driven 250 miles so far. (highway / city - 50/50) on asphalt at temperatures from -5 to +4 for two days with smooth acceleration and deceleration and a maximum speed of 70 km / h. (a couple of times and briefly up to 85 km / h). Tire pressure 2.5 (Ford S-Max) NOISE. For six seasons I rolled hakkapelita 5 (dimension 185/65/15) - there is such a rumble as if wheel bearings flew. There is also noise that is not annoying; at a speed closer to 80 km / h, a slight howl appears - after running in, it may disappear. In general, the noise is negligible and absolutely not annoying (S-Max 1 machine); Will there be a howl at high speeds I will try to add later. CONTROL. With hackapelite 5, I did not experience problems with collation. On the current car and with such a standard size, only the ice cruiser drove Bridges - the rutting attracted attention to them, but nothing more. On the new Yakohamahs with collation, for the time being, how to say softer and without a mat - when rebuilding on it, it throws sourly both front and back: the car has to be caught, and there weren’t any special speeds yet. I'm not sure that after the break-in, something will change. When cornering, the car blows away, which is also confirmed by the emerging noise of the spikes (in general, the spikes, by the way, are practically inaudible). I would like to hope that the rubber has not just run in yet. All 4 tires were balanced very well (10-20g.) - I compare it with khaka 5 (there was the norm up to 40g.) And cruiser bridges (there 20-25g.). As for the behavior on snow and ice, I will try to add later. At the moment, taking into account the speeds and running-in, the noise level suits quite well, and the handling is a C-grade. . after 1100 km. Howl is gone. There is no ghoul. In general, the tires are very quiet at speeds up to 150 km / h (I have not tried it again). It’s good to enter corners after running in, given that this is still soft winter tires. On the track, we also checked the resistance to hydroplaning - it is on top. And with the rut, you still need to be more careful.

Pros
  • Quiet, good hydroplaning resistance, number and placement of studs
Cons
  • Throws on a rut
