Review on πŸ”© Heavy-Duty Tailstock Center: PSI LCENTLT2 for Enhanced Precision and Stability! by Michael Tegan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works fantastic very reasonably priced

I have an old dead center delta lathe. This residential center is a real improvement. It's cheaper than even 30 year old ebay live centers. It turns well and I don't think either of them came close to overloading it. Note that MT #2 is shorter than regular MT. This is good for some mini lathes that cannot accommodate a full size MT. The automatic ejection mechanism does not work on my tailstock due to the shorter length. However, this is easy to solve. I simply cut off a short length of dowel (maybe 0.5 inch?) and inserted it into the tailstock between the internal ejection mechanism and the MT of this rotating center. Reverse screwing of the plunger pushes the pin, which in turn pushes the active site outward. Remember the tip is sharp. When you're not using the tailstock (like turning a bowl), you'll need to move it to the side. Plus, it's sharp enough to crash into a tree. I plan on twisting the collar to put it on when I want to limit intrusion.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • old
