Review on Travel In Style And Convenience With The Rockland Rome Hybrid Spinner Luggage Set - Black, 3-Piece (20/24/28) by Meghan Saylor

Not made for someone who travels a lot.

I am hesitant to buy suitcases that are too nice when I travel because sometimes they can get handled roughly and broken between flights. These suitcases are mid grade in that they are not super fancy but not your average suitcases either. They're a hybrid between soft and hard cases in that the back of the suitcase is hard and front is soft. This allows me to still pack the suitcases really full because it expands in the front since it's soft. With the 3 of suitcases, I can pack everything I need for a 3 week trip across the US. I still end up doing laundry once or twice of course, but that's with changing my clothes every day and washing the clothes I've changed. The zippers could be a little smoother on these and I still find they bind from time to time on the inner lining of the case. The wheels are quiet and once again are mid grade and not heavy duty. I think the wheels will be the first thing to break on this suitcase since they are spinner wheels and stick out of the bottom of the suitcase. So far after several flight they appear to working good and the only deterioration I see on these suitcases is some theading that is fraying likely due to the suitcase being moved around during baggage handling. I've gotten compliments on these suitcases, and I do like them but I doubt I would buy them again because the handles need to be a little longer for someone that is 5ft 10 or taller. Also like I said the wheels aren't heavy duty. Lastly I wouldn't buy them again because it's hard to stack one of the smaller suitcases on top of the larger ones and when I try to pull through a busy airport what ends op happening is I end up rolling 3 suitcases through the airport with two hands while trying to hold my boarding pass and ID. It would be a lot better if the handles were longer and I could stack the smallest suitcase on top of the larger one. These might be ok for someone who travels very little or just wants then for a weekend trip.

Pros
  • Multi-directional spinner wheels
Cons
  • The luggage may not fit snugly in overhead compartments, causing discomfort to other passengers
